Two students of PSG College of Technology developed a compact and affordable home automation module — ‘Smitch’.

They claim it to be the most affordable in the market today. The price ranges between INR 2,999 to Rs INR 13,499. It is planned to be launched at a consumer fair in Coimbatore on April 21.

Sanathkumar, CEO of start up firm Karsan Technologies Pvt Ltd, said that the compact smitch module does not require rewiring or change in existing wiring and can be easily placed behind any existing switchboard. An interactive mobile app and on-board timers allows customers to control and schedule any home appliance. The product analyzes and prompts change in usage patterns that helps users to optimize energy consumption by 40%.

Pragadheesh Raj, CEO of the company, plans to launch the products in eight Indian cities, including Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai, with initial capacity of 6,000 pieces.
