3 things that you shouldn't do in Skype interview

These days having Skype interview is common during the initial rounds in order to save time and cost for both candidate and company.

I am pretty sure you would have been through it at least once or would be about to have one soon. Fret not. Giving Skype interview is easy however you need to take care of few things before you connect with your interviewer.

1. Check the things in background of the room you are interviewing in

Since you are most likely to be interviewing from your home or PG or hostel, make sure there are no clothes hanging in the vision of your web cam or front cam of mobile. You do not want your future boss to judge you by the messy study table that he can spot in the background

2. Teeth check.

As you are interviewing face to face virtually it’s absolutely important that you are careful about your appearance. The interviewer need not know that you had Spinach in your meal. I would suggest to dress up for a Skype interview as you would for a face to face interview.

3. Camera distance.

Skype allows you to see how the next person is viewing you in their screen. Make sure that your posture is right; that you are not too close to the camera lens or that you are not leaning too much towards the screen. It is also good practice to use headphones during the call.

The last thing you should be careful about is be in the place where you wouldn’t be distracted. Interviewers would not be please to see that while they are talking you are getting distracted because someone walked in to your room.

So the next time you are in Skype interview you are sorted if you are careful about these three things. Be relaxed, put on a smile and enjoy the conversation.

Would love to know about any other Skype interview experience that you might have had! Let me know in the comments below.
