An unemployed young man came to New York and applied for the position at Microsoft for ‘office boy’. In the interview the HR manager gave him a test to clean the floor. The man did a fabulous job and passed the test.
“You are hired,” said the HR manager on seeing his work. “Give me your e-mail address, and I’ll send you the offer letter. You can join work immediately.”
The man replied, “I don’t have an email address!”
“You don’t have an email address?!”, the HR manager responded in surprise. “Well, if you do not have an email address, means you do not exist for me. I cannot hire a person who does not exist. Please leave.”
The man was disappointed and in a dilemma. He was left with just $10. Once that is spent, he will be absolutely broke.
The man thought of doing anything that he could come across. He bought a crate of tomatoes with his last $10 from the supermarket and went from door to door to sell these tomatoes. Within two hours he had sold all the tomatoes and had doubled the money.
That day he repeated the same thrice and went home with $80. He repeated it every day and simply kept doubling the money. He also started selling other vegetables and from the farmers directly.
In five years the man became one of the biggest food retailers in the US. Now that the man was married and had children, he decided to get himself and his family insured. He called an insurance broker, and chose an insurance plan.[sociallocker]The broker asked him for his email address to complete the procedure. The man replied, “I don’t have an email address.”
Surprised, the broker said, “You don’t have an email address, and yet have built an empire. Do you know what you could be with an email address?!”
The man smiled and replied, “An office boy at Microsoft!”[/sociallocker]
